I’m searching for paths to effective communication with villagers who’ve become accustomed to bureaucracies trying to do what the individuals should have done themselves.

Much of the frustration, in all countries, is the perception the individual can’t make a difference. Meanwhile, individuals continue to load responsibility on bureaucracies while eroding the individuals’ rights and responsibilities.

Consider the Titanic. The manipulators said it could not sink. It sank. There weren’t enough life boats on the Titanic; because it couldn’t sink. It sank. Our systems are designed to perpetuate themselves. Our systems are delivered with no brakes. Because they cannot roll too fast. They have grown too fast. They all have accelerators. They grow fast. We need brakes. We have no brakes because our systems can’t grow too fast. They have grow too fast.

Think about it whenever you see one more intrusion on individual rights and responsibilities. We can all make a positive difference. So far, we have made cumulative, negative difference on a scale guaranteed to erode individual rights and responsibilities; and make our societies close to useless when our systems fail.

“We should do better. Let’s do better.”

My Allegory

My Lifesmith book blog is focused on identifying challenges within our indigenous and disadvantaged peoples and developing workable solutions for those challenges, not bureaucracy but individuals harmonizing their expectations with their realities, every day.

The Lifesmith story starts with a young, white woman who sets out to make a difference in her village and in the neighbouring Indian Reservation. She mentors an even younger, indigenous woman who is special by any measure.

Faralee Frozen Tongue is a 17 year old, frustrated girl when she leaves the reserve to find better. She, temporarily, finds worse but she’s rescued and flourishes as a leader on her Reserve and across North America. She’s an example of the potential in every individual where opportunity, encouragement, hope, mentorship, and resources are available.
